The registration for the contest «People of Artek», opened on 20 March. The action is timed to the 100th anniversary of the International Children's Center, which is celebrated in 2025. According to the results of the contest, 100 winners will become participants of the 8th Artek shift in 2023. This was announced by the coordinator of project «World of Opportunities» Roman Romanov during a video conference on the launch of the action. Representatives of the Ministry of Education, Rossotrudnichestvo in Russia and abroad participated in the event.

«Within the framework of the contest, pupils aged 12-17 and foreign pupils are invited to conduct research in their country about a person who has been in Artek for 100 years. Also, participants can conduct research on symbols, songs of «Artek», appearance, analyze changes over 100 years. After that, to present information about Artek and the results of their research within the framework of Artek Lessons at their school for junior high school students», — said Roman Romanov.

Participants can take part in creative nominations too: prepare a video «Artek in the fate of human», posters, drawings, artistic elements based on the materials of their activities. In addition, as part of the action, the children's summit will be held in Artek on the International Day of Friends, which is celebrated on 30 July. «We also plan to hold a meeting of friends in Moscow with the participation of prominent public and political figures of the Russian Federation», — said the coordinator of the «World of Opportunities» party project. According to him, «United Russia» has launched the website of the Artek People contest in Russian and English. Registration for educational institutions and participants will open on March 20.

«Rossotrudnichestvo and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have identified 29 countries — all of them are available for selection on the portal for the contest. At the first stage, regional contest-commissions will help to select the winners in their countries», — added Roman Romanov .

In turn, Andrei Klimov, a member of the Bureau of the Supreme Council of United Russia, deputy chairman of the commission of the General Council of the Party for international cooperation and support of compatriots abroad, noted that in modern conditions it is extremely necessary to consolidate the younger generation. Parliamentary Union was held, and I have met with many colleagues, including the chairmen of the parliaments of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Many of them know what Artek is from their youth. Today, when we are creating an international special party platform, the Club of Friends of Russia, the Artek People project is of particular importance," he said.

First Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Bugaev also noted the importance of the "People of Artek" campaign.
"In the international direction, we have accumulated a lot of experience in cooperation with colleagues from United Russia. And our All — Russian children's centers, such as "Artek", "Orlyonok", "Smena", "Ocean" are key centers of interaction. This kind of good — neighborly, friendly relations should be formed from childhood," he stressed.

«Artek is an international children's center with almost a century of history. In all the years of its existence, it not only leaves an indelible mark in the lives of those who have been here at least once, but also often radically affects the future fate of its pupils», — commented the director of the Artek Center. Konstantin Fedorenko noted that the initiative of the international action «People of Artek» belongs to children: «Finding Artek residents, finding out and telling their peers about the role the legendary camp played in their lives is an important mission».
