Artek students from 25 countries took part in the "Energy of Sport - Energy of Friendship" sportland event
The Energy of Sport - Energy of Friendship" international sportsland was held at the Sports Palace. Artek students from eight children's camps of the Artek International Children's Center, including children from 25 countries, took part in the entertaining sports game. In addition to relay races, the participants were also able to compete in an intellectual quiz. Thus, through the system of sports competitions in Artek children form a valuable attitude to physical training and healthy lifestyle.
Among the Artek festivals and contests, sports competitions occupy a special place. Everyone at Artek is involved in sports. Sport unites everyone. Stadiums and sports grounds, beaches and open-air swimming pools, climbing walls and rope camp become the place of application of forces.
On July 20 the children's center celebrated International Chess Day with a chess tournament. On July 22, most of Artek began its morning with a marathon on the seafront along the sea instead of charging. Two days later, Artek-wide competitions will be held in such disciplines as volleyball, air rifle shooting, table tennis and swimming. Sport is an important means of uniting people around the world.
"Sportlandia, probably like artball, is one of the most popular children's competitions at Artek because it gives bright emotions and a charge of vigor. Everyone here is immersed in the wonderful world of sports and learns to work in a team. Sportlandia gives an opportunity to express oneself and loosen up. Today many children from foreign countries take part. I am sure that sport will unite everyone. I hope that such events in children's environment will influence children and adults, and they will see what is the atmosphere of kindness and friendship", - said Alexander Borovik, head of the department of physical culture and mass work of the department of physical culture, sports and tourism of the Artek International Children's Center.
The guys competed in four relay races: friendship tunnel, victory throw, globe, energetic balls. Before the beginning of each relay race the organizing squad of the children's camp "Amber" demonstrated to the participants of the relay races the correct execution and passing of each stage. In each relay took part 18 people from the camp: 9 girls and 9 boys.
The intellectual stage included 9 blocks. The guys competed in knowledge about soccer, hockey, tennis, basketball, summer and winter Olympic Games and interesting facts about sports.
Artek residents noted that such competitions strengthen health, develop the ability to act in the interests of the team and foster a sense of mutual assistance.
"Today my squadron and I are participating in an international sports competition. I am a little worried, but I know that our camp will be in the top three winners, because we have been diligently preparing for today's competition. I have been dancing since I was 5 years old, so my success in dancing and in sports will help me to win today. Thank you to Artek for the opportunity to participate in such a sporting event," shared Ulyana Kobyakova, Seoul, South Korea.
"For me, sport is life. Since childhood I have been professionally engaged in rhythmic gymnastics and often travel to competitions. We will have several relay races and an intellectual stage. Winners and prize-winners of sports competitions were awarded diplomas and medals. The first place was taken by the children's camp "Yantarny", the second - by the children's camp "Morskoy", and the third - by "Khrustalny".
